The ocean changes when they arrive.

A black dorsal cuts through the surface. A breath erupts into the open air. Then another appears beside it—and suddenly the entire horizon feels alive.

The WUTA Orca T-Shirt was born from our own encounters with killer whales in the wild: families traveling together, explosive breaches, powerful accelerations, and quiet passes close enough to hear every breath.

This design carries that feeling beyond the water—the intelligence, connection, freedom, and unmistakable presence of one of the ocean’s most extraordinary animals.

Wild. Free. Unforgettable.

Wear the wild. Support its future.

Wake Up To Adventure.

Your Photograph From the Wild

Every WUTA Orca T-Shirt includes an original photograph of a wild killer whale captured by Wake Up To Adventure founder and wildlife photographer Lee Andelson.

These photographs come from real encounters with killer whales in the Pacific Northwest and beyond—moments experienced and photographed in the wild. Whenever the individual whale in your photograph can be identified, we’ll also include their name or identification number and a little of their story.

It’s our way of connecting the animal on your shirt to the wild animal that inspired it—and giving you something from that world to keep.

For those who want to experience wildlife like this for themselves, Wake Up To Adventure Photography Tours offer opportunities to get into the field, experience remarkable wildlife encounters, and create images of your own.

A shirt to wear. A photograph to keep. A connection to the wild.

The Animal Behind the Design

Killer whales don’t simply share the same ocean. They live remarkably different lives within it.

In the Pacific Northwest, Southern Resident killer whales travel in tightly connected family groups, following salmon and traditions passed from one generation to the next. Mothers, sons, daughters, siblings, and grandparents can remain connected throughout their lives, creating bonds that can span decades.

Bigg’s killer whales move through many of these same waters with an entirely different way of life. Hunting marine mammals requires stealth, coordination, patience, and extraordinary precision. Their movements can be quiet and deliberate—until the ocean suddenly erupts into action.

Different prey. Different traditions. Different ways of moving through the world.

Yet seeing either in the wild leaves the same impression.

A dorsal fin rising against the horizon. A family surfacing together. A young whale launching clear of the water. The sound of a breath carrying across an otherwise quiet sea.

The WUTA Orca was created from those moments—not from an idea of what a killer whale is, but from years of watching them live wild and free in the waters that shaped this design.

That is the animal behind the shirt.

An apex predator. A deeply social animal. A life built around family, culture, and the wild ocean.

Conservation & Giving Back

Every WUTA Orca T-Shirt purchase gives back to wildlife conservation through our support of the Orca Behavior Institute, a San Juan Island–based nonprofit dedicated to inspiring the conservation of wild killer whales.

Through non-invasive research, science-based education, and advocacy, OBI studies Southern Resident and Bigg’s killer whales throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Their long-term research helps scientists, management agencies, decision-makers, and the public better understand how these populations are changing and what can be done to protect them.

For every WUTA Orca T-Shirt purchased, $1 is donated directly to Orca Behavior Institute.

When you wear the WUTA Orca, you’re carrying more than the image of an animal.

You’re helping support the work protecting its future.
